Childhood dreams do come true: Kenedy Williams’ journey from fishing with dad to gaining her Master’s

From fishing for Pacific salmon with her dad in the United States to earning her MSc at the University of Iceland, Kenedy Williams has always followed her passion for biology. Her master’s research explored craniofacial adaptations in salmonid fishes, comparing jaws and teeth across populations to understand how diet shapes bone structure. The project combined fieldwork, lab work, and detailed computer-based landmarking. Now a graduate, Kenedy continues working with her lab while assisting in teaching. Her advice to aspiring scientists? Start early, send the email, and never be afraid to try — you never get what you don’t ask for.
